If you own an iPad there's now a cheaper way to own a very useful accessory. Apple has just revealed it's launching a brand new Pencil at a much more affordable price. In fact, its upcoming Apple Pencil (USB-C) will cost just £79 when it arrives in stores next month - that's £30 cheaper than the older Pencil with a Lightning connection.
Despite its lower price, it gets plenty of useful features including advanced accuracy, low latency and clever tilt sensitivity which makes it feel much more like a real pen on actual paper.
There are magnets in the side which let it snap to the iPad so it doesn't get lost plus, once attached, it also places it into a deep slumber so it doesn't waste power.
It even gets the latest hover mode so you can see where you're about to start drawing without making a mark on the digital paper. Another neat feature is the pop-up cap which reveals the charging port hidden neatly behind.
Of course, this is now the entry-level stylus so it doesn't get all the functionality found on the more expensive Pencil 2nd Gen.
That £139 accessory adds pressure sensitivity, wireless charging and double-tap to change the writing tools.
If you think the £79 device suits your needs then it works with all tablets that have a USB-C port including all the latest iPad Pro models, iPad 10th Gen, iPad Air and iPad Mini.
“Apple Pencil has revolutionized note taking, sketching, and illustrating, unleashing endless possibilities for productivity and creativity,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Combined with the versatility of iPad, the new Apple Pencil unlocks another great option to experience the magic of digital handwriting, annotation, marking up documents, and more.”
