Just last month Apple launched its latest batch of devices which include new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models. They come packed with upgrades including faster processors, better cameras and a refreshed design but - since these smartphones started arriving with customers - some have complained about them getting worryingly hot.
In fact, one user says he recorded his device hitting 48 degrees when putting it through some labour-intensive tasks such as gaming.
It's worth noting that not all users have had this issue. Mirror Online has had these devices since launch - read our full iPhone 15 review - and not noticed any excessive heating problems.
However, it seems there have now been enough complaints for Apple to look into the problems with the technology giant now explaining more about what's causing some iPhones to get a little toasty.
Speaking exclusively to Forbes, an Apple spokesperson said: “We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity.”
It's not unusual for devices to use more power in the first few days as they go about installing software, downloading photos and indexing data. If your iPhone is running hot and losing battery more quickly it should calm down within a few days.
That isn't the only thing that appears to be increasing the heat.
Apple, says it has also found a bug in its iOS 17 software that means some popular apps are putting too much pressure on the processors.
"We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update," Apple explained.
"Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out.”
Until the iOS update is released, it's worth keeping an eye on your device although Apple says there's no danger and the internal parts won't be damaged.
