Asda has brought back its popular £1 café meal deal for the over-60s this winter.

The deal includes soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffees in any Asda café until February 28 next year. The supermarket has 205 cafés across the UK - you can find your nearest one by using the online Asda store finder tool.

The retailer first launched its "winter warmer" deal in November 2022 for two months in a bid to support older customers who were affected by the cost of living crisis. The initiative saw over 650,000 £1 soup meals served last winter.

The offer is available all day, every day and will run alongside the kids eat for £1 deal. Some Asda stores also run a "community cuppa" campaign in their cafés, which creates space for community groups who may otherwise struggle to meet due to rental costs or high energy costs.

Spaces are available on weekdays in November and December from 2pm to 6pm and all customers who visit will receive unlimited free tea or coffee. Kris Comerford, Asda Chief Commercial Officer said: “We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and on a fixed income.

"Last year we served over 650,000 meals to the over 60s in two months, by bringing the initiative back for 2023 and extending it until February we hope it will prove just as impactful across the winter months for those who need it most.”

It comes after Asda released its Christmas advert for 2023 starring Michael Bublé. The 90-second clip sees the Canadian crooner take a dramatically different step in his career - as he joins Asda as their new Chief Quality Officer. His main job is to make sure the retailer delivers the very best quality this Christmas - including taste testing all its festive food.

The advert finishes with an Asda colleague asking: “Off for the night are you?” – to which Bublé declares he’s just getting started, and he sings Walking in a Winter Wonderland. Michael Bublé said: “I love my relationship with the UK, and I’m the biggest fan of Christmas, so it was an honour to be asked to star in Asda’s Christmas advert this year."
