I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly gave a fresh update about Jamie Lynn Spears after she quit the show.
Emotional Jamie Lynn Spears has quit the I'm A Celebrity jungle and left the ITV show on "medical grounds". The 32-year-old actor and sister of pop icon Britney became the second contestant to exit the camp following food critic Grace Dent's departure earlier this week. A spokesperson for the show said: "Jamie Lynn Spears has left 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' on medical grounds. She's been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities."
Speaking at the top of the show today, Ant and Dec confirmed Jamie Lynn had quit. They said: "Jamie Lynn Spears has left the camp on medical grounds. The good news is Jamie is doing fine and she goes away with our best wishes."
An ITV source insisted the decision taken on Wednesday was largely based on her missing her two children, and that being away from them so long had impacted her mentally. "She has been struggling physically and mentally for some time. If you look back even last week this is not a complete surprise by any means," the source said.
Jamie's campmates had been informed she was not coming back and she was last seen in the episode last night (WEDS) including scenes speaking to jockey Frankie Dettori about racing. Her exit gives ITV bosses a slight headache as two contestants have now left early and Nella Rose has also threatened to quit.
In Tuesday night's episode, Jamie Lynn looked unhappy, breaking down in tears a number of times. She removed herself from the rest of the group and was crying after they had enjoyed a small treat of chocolate. She later said "I think I have got to leave," and showed signs of being seriously homesick and struggling to cope with jungle life.
Jamie Lynn said: “That little square of chocolate p*****d me off.” Danielle Harold said: “It’s because it gives you a taste of what’s outside…” Jamie Lynn laughed: “I probably should have just let someone eat it. I feel a little better maybe. I just needed to cry.”
Jamie Lynn then said in the Bush Telegraph said: “I just want more chocolate.” was then shown trying to use the phone in camp to call her children, even though the phone was not connected to an outside line.

She was heard saying: "I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate this place, it is where people go to have the worst days of their lives. Dear God please help me make it. I think I have got to leave. Just a friendly reminder how much it sucks here."
As early as the third episode of the series over a week ago, she had spoken about quitting the jungle. At the time she broke down in tears when she wasn't given her luxury item. Jamie Lynn moaned: "I don't wanna be here, I quit, It is not fair."
The sister of Britney Spears broke down after four members of the camp took part In a game to win luxury items - but failed to win her item which was a framed photograph of her children. After going into the Bush Telegraph, Jamie Lynn said: "I just wanted to say like, I don't get it. Why would y'all put them through that? They feel guilty. Like they didn't come back with the gifts for their friends."
Going back into camp in tears, she added: "I just went and told them, I was like you're so effed. up if you want to put them through that. I think this is not fair. I quit, I don't want to do it. I do not wanna be here, that was like f**king torture. I just want to see my kids, I will stay out here with the critters just let me see them."
Jamie Lynn is expected to fly home now and be greeted by her husband Jamie and children, Maddie, 15, and Ivey, 5. She also took part in US reality series Special Forces - a similar show to Channel 4's Celeb SAS. Jamie Lynn managed two days in that show before quitting. Nella Rose has also looked like she could quit the jungle, and another contestant is due out on Friday in the first eviction.
