Those with a BT TV box tucked under their tellies are about to see a major refresh coming to screens. BT has just confirmed to Mirror Online that it will be switching this popular platform over to its EE branding in the coming weeks. That means users will see the purple/black colour schemes disappearing on the telly planner and being replaced by EE's famous aqua shade. The on-screen logo is also changing along with the light that glows on the front of the box. More new upgrades could also be made available for existing users in the future.

So why is BT making this change?

For those not aware, BT bought the EE mobile network all the way back in 2015 and now sees this service as the future for its consumer-focused products.

Although BT services will remain available, EE is now at the forefront of mobile, broadband and television.

In fact, during a recent launch event, EE revealed that it is now offering the UK's fastest internet with some homes able to whizz the web around homes at speeds in excess of 1.5Gbps - that's around 20 times faster than the UK average.

Along with better broadband, EE is also introducing new TV set-top boxes to the market including its new Pro device. This box includes premium telly services such as Sky and TNT along with easy access to apps such as Netflix and Apple TV+

If you don't want to pay to watch telly, you can plug in your existing aerial for terrestrial services or view live TV via your broadband.

It's also 4K compatible, features Dolby Atmos sound technology and there are full search options to find things to watch faster.

There's even a massive hard drive tucked inside that allows you to record your favourite shows, a bit like Sky Q.

Along with this main box, EE is also offering a Mini device as well which can be placed in other parts of the home for a multi-room experience.

These devices will launch in the coming months.
