If you use Freeview to get your daily fix of TV then it's a good idea to give it a quick retune. The free-to-view service has announced an update which includes a raft of changes plus two extra channels joining the planner.

Those new things to watch are the Moochi children's channel - which features animated shows throughout the day - and something called TV Extra which is dedicated to creative and craft shopping. These services can be found via Channel 213 (Moochi) and 291 (TV Extra) - although they don't come via your aerial with an internet connection needed instead.

Along with this new content, there is also a big update to some existing channels with a total of six services getting a rebrand.

These include CBS Reality which is now switching to TRUE CRIME, RealityXtra which is renamed TRUE CRIME XTRA and HorrorXtra which now becomes LEGEND XTRA. All of the changes kick in this week and may require users to tinker with their devices to get the update.

"On 22 November 2023 some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels," Freeview confirmed. "You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date."

HOW TO RETUNE YOUR FREEVIEW TV

Freeview has issued advice on how to retune devices and here are the steps every user needs to follow.

• Press menu on your box or TV remote control

• Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.

• Select ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).

•Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
