Hi Aurelia. My apologies for the confusion, but it is Alum Rock School Board Trustee Linda Chavez who opposed extending the tax. It was initially reported incorrectly in our story here: https://sanjosespotlight.com/election-2022-santa-clara-county-san-jose-silicon-valley-schools-bank-on-voters-to-help-students-bond-measure-parcel-tax/

The current board doesn’t responsibly evaluate her. I used to blame her because she is awful, but now I blame them. They’ve had YEARS to correct the mistake made in hiring her.

If SOMOS cared about kids and families on the East Side as much as they care about getting their ARUSD contracts renewed, they’d be organizing an uprising. But they aren’t, which speaks volumes.

Toxic leaders are protecting the interests of organizations and adults over the interests of students and families. Shame on all of them.

Interestingly the front office always seems to have it.

The California Lottery is a lie.

That money goes to school district General Funds Account , which means it goes to increasing paychecks for Administration.

It’s a joke on the Families of School Aged Children.
That is my opinion.

Investigate for yourself.

That’s my opinion.

In Community Spirit,
Danny

I was shocked when I read Supervisor Cindy Chavez did not support the Alum Rock school tax that just passed when Alum Rock School district is always in the news or Spotlight about the problems they have. Now the Council wants to have housing developers build affordable housing with no parking spaces and our Council members Raul and Magdalena agree. Just like they agreed all marijuana retail shops need to go in their districts. I am so glad Raul is going to be termed out before he causes anymore damage to our city. It is funny how they send out these newsletters to their residents but never mention the problems in our districts or how they plan to address them. So glad Sam is leaving too because he thinks he has these great ideas but our city is getting worse not better.

I went to fisher mid 90’s and overfelt late 90’s. It’s mind blowing how the same old worn homes have become million dollar properties. With city charging taxes on such value every year to have their kids go to the same outdated run down still poverty stricken schools that clearly are the same even after 30 years of inflation and silicon Valley smoke blown up everyone’s…. I mean really, who is the focal point when powers make choices? The future and our kids? Or the selfish and greedy who don’t care what’s coming next? It’s not helping when many people expect things but not willing to work for it. But these kids shouldn’t pay for that.

Only this time they got creative & threw in the newest term… residual! Boy, once the pandemic hit, it was wonderful for a lot of companies bc that, all of a sudden, became the “go-to” excuse for anything & everything, regardless of whether it was true or not. Yup, yup… pandemic. Oops… pandemic. Uh… pandemic. I’ll give ya 2 guesses what the newest, “go-to” excuse is… Give up?…Supply chain!…disruption, problems, whatever. Was so glad to see that that little phrase got thrown into the response excuse as well. Aaand, while we’re at it, bitching & complaining, how about all of that CA lottery money that’s supposed to go to the schools. Where is it? Is there any type of accounting that ever comes out & shows exactly where it has been distributed? Bc, u most certainly never hear school districts boasting about how much they received from the lottery commission. Nor do u hear schools boasting about the windfalls that they’ve received. But yet, supposedly, it’s being distributed somewhere, somehow, someway to someone. Hmmm 🤔
