Hopefully downtown will actually draw people unlike last time we had a super bowl, in which most of the money from tourism was going to SF. Let’s be honest; Downtown San Jose is a tourist trap in which the only thing to do here is drink, while Santa Clara is even worse – there is literally nothing to do there unless you want to go hang out at the Valley Fair Mall.

This is not the kind of City most residents want. It seems that City decision makers prioritize onetime visitors or onetime events vs. building an environment to attract a long-term resident and commercial business base to downtown.

Did anyone pushing the entertainment district talk to people who lived downtown twenty or thirty years ago when every weekend night was filled with chaos because it was a huge bar scene? Ask SJPD for some history.

Thank you to the city council for using common sense and making this happen.
