NBC Bay Area: Copacabana movie remake underway in San Jose

Lorena Cortez is producing and directing a short film adaptation of the 1940s movie Copacabana in San Jose, best remembered now from Barry Manilow’s hit song in 1978.

Unlike the original movie, Cortez’s version will feature mostly women of color both in front of and behind the camera.
