iPhone users are facing some major issues with the ITV X app this week, with a fix still yet to be made. There have been hundreds of reports of an outage on the ITV X app since the weekend. Downdetector reports a spike in problems on both Saturday and Sunday, with users claiming that the app won't progress past the ITV X loading screen.

Our expert tech team at Mirror.co.uk tested the app for themselves and, sure enough, it was stuck on the animated loading icon and logo.

The app, which is ITV's answer to BBC iPlayer, is also encountering problems on iPad if user reports are true.

Good news for fans of Good Morning Britain - the app should be fixed soon

One iPhone user contacted ITV on Twitter to say: "When are you going to fix the ITVX app it's getting ridiculous now. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled it. And it worked for a while. But now it's not working again on my iPad and my iPhone is the same."

Responding to the comment, an ITV X spokesperson said: "Hi there, I am pleased to announce that our tech team are releasing a new update for the app which will resolve this issue. Happy days".

The app's 'ITV X Help' account added that it does not yet have a release time for the update.

How to fix ITV X app on iPhone

ITV has been recommending that people simply delete and then reinstall their app in order to use it. But some users have been claiming on Twitter that this hasn't had the desired effect, with one person stating they had been having issues for 'over 24 hours'.

The only surefire way of fixing it—assuming ITV's software update is effective—is to keep your app updated. To do this on iPhone, you'll need to open the Settings app, tap 'App Store', and then make sure App Updates are switched to 'On' where it says Automatic Downloads.

To manually check if the ITV X app is updated, you can also crack open the App Store, find the app page, and look to see if an update has been released.
