The real reason Jamie Lynn Spears decided to quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is all down to the actions of one of her costars - a show source has claimed.
The 32-year-old American actress - best known for being the younger sister of music superstar Britney Spears, 41 - became the second contestant to quit the struggling ITV reality show on Wednesday. Her abrupt exit from the show meant she followed in the footsteps of 50-year-old food critic Grace Dent - who quit the series on Monday on medical grounds.
Show bosses reportedly struggled to stop Jamie Lynn from quitting the show almost the entire time that she was in the jungle. Viewers saw her initially isolate herself from the rest of the camp, sparking fears she could walk, just hours after she arrived on the show. And then I’m A Celeb fans saw her repeatedly break down in tears as she struggled with missing her two daughters.
Jamie Lynn’s mood was boosted when she began to bond with her campmates - and when she won trials, securing luxury meals for the camp. But ITV bosses reportedly had to talk her out of quitting last weekend. And after Grace decided to walk away on Monday, the American star decided she could finally quit too.
A source told The Sun: “Jamie Lynn was a flight risk from day one and while she experienced some highs, excelling in trials and forming special bonds in camp, ultimately she couldn’t get past the lows.
“Talks with logistical teams have been underway for days now, with an exit as early as Saturday mooted, then pushed back, after Jamie had a good day or so. But it proved too much and after Grace left the writing was on the wall for Jamie - it would mean she wasn’t the first one out.”
Hours before her abrupt exit, viewers saw Jamie Lynn cursing the show, shouting in the encampment: “I hate it here so much, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it here. This place is where people go to have the worst days of their lives.” And viewers were then convinced she would walk.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Jamie Lynn had quit the show, with an ITV spokesperson revealing: "Jamie Lynn Spears has left I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She's been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities."
Her exit came just two days after Grace quit the show - with an ITV spokesperson explaining on Monday: “Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."
Jamie Lynn had struggled to be away from her two children. She shares a five-year-old daughter named Ivey Joan with her 41-year-old businessman husband Jamie Watson. She also has a 15-year-old daughter named Maddie who she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
