Many people would say that 'age is just a number', and that's certainly the case for one couple who have a 37-year age gap - but many people mistake the pair for a mother and daughter duo.

Julia Zelg, 29, and Eileen de Freest, 66, met on Tinder in 2019, and their relationship has gone from strength to strength ever since, despite the cruel backlash that they've faced as a pair, with Eileen upsettingly being accused of paedophilia due to their large age gap.

The now-married London-based couple has insisted that they're "a team", however, even though they've now opened up their relationship to other people - sharing that they're open with each other about who they see on the side.

In an episode of 'Love Don't Judge' on YouTube, Julia admitted that she didn't think someone in their 60s would be interested in having a good sex life - but she said she was "wrong." Eileen said: "Julia and I have an extraordinarily good sex life - I mean, I've never been with anyone as exciting as her, and fun as hell."

Sadly, however, the pair suffered through "marital issues" during the pandemic, and as a result, they have taken the decision to open their relationship up to other people - but they're "very honest" with each other about their additional pairings.

"We are [now] ethically non-monogamous, which has allowed us both to explore other connections while coming back together", Julia shared. She also said that it was helping them to learn more about themselves, and each other, and Eileen is apparently more interested in "intellectual" connection with others that are not her wife.

Julia said there was a "new energy and lightness" surrounding their relationship, saying that they will always put their love and marriage first before anything else.

Eileen shared that her "hormones have been all over the place" so her libido hasn't been the same as it once was, and Julia has realised that her sexuality is more "fluid" than she initially thought - as she has always identified as a lesbian, reports the Sun.

The wives also explained that they are dating separately as they have "such different tastes", so opening the marriage up to a third wasn't an option for them. In a YouTube video, Julia shared: "My mum is a few years younger than Eileen", so people have accused Julia of having "mummy issues", with many assuming that Eileen is Julia's mum. "If we're somewhere and people say Eileen's my mum, and I say that actually we're married, they are usually very embarrassed", Julia said.

Julia said that she believes that the pair get hate comments not only because of the age gap but because of their sexualities. She said: "Unfortunately, there are still a lot of homophobic people out there." Eileen also said that sometimes she gets mistaken for Julia's grandma, but she said she feels sorry for people who are so narrow-minded.
