Piers Morgan and Nick Kyrgios are set to go at it in an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
The pair have enjoyed a frosty relationship on social media over the years with Morgan, who's never one to shy away from an opinion, and the fiery Kyrgios having some frank exchanges. Any bad blood looks to have been put aside with the interview airing on Thursday night.
Morgan revisits their tweets to each other before they talk about the Australian's antics, which have divided opinion. They also delve into Kyrgios' rise through the tennis system, suggestions he's been entitled and the difficulties and racism faced by his family in their homeland.
A 60-second preview clip on social media sees Kyrgios talk openly as he jokes: "Sometimes you are a bit of a d**k. I can be a douche on the tennis court ... I think we're very alike."
The short segment also shows Morgan discuss one particular exchange which saw him telling Kyrgios: "Put your toys back in your pram and go home" to which the Australian replied: "EAD" - which is an abbreviation for 'eat a d**k'.
Morgan also referenced an infamous press conference he did at Wimbledon which saw the Australian eat sushi while slamming 'disrespectful' fans at SW19. "How would you feel if while we're talking right now I just start munching on sushi?" he asked.
The broadcaster's frustration with the tennis star peaked in 2022 when he lost the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios made the showpiece event for the first time, losing in four sets after winning the first, lamenting his own box as he let out his anger.
Morgan tweeted: "Kyrgios is such a monumental a**hole. Imagine hurling constant foul-mouthed abuse in a Wimbledon final at your own support team/family for YOUR bad shots?" He later said: "What a loser. Even made me want Djokovic to win by the end."
During the same tournament Morgan commented: “He’s basically a pig. He’s eating his food as he talks to the media, he abuses a female lineswoman, abuses an elderly linesman, he abuses the crowd, he spits at one of them. I mean, the man’s out of control. Can you put up any defence for this antipathy of a monster?”
