Pete Wicks has arrived in Australia after defending Sam Thompson amid Zara McDermott snub.
The former TOWIE star has travelled to Oz to meet his best friend off the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! bridge when his journey comes to an end.
The 35-year-old was seen at Brisbane airport before heading to the hotel where friends and family of the show stars tend to stay together. This comes after fans were confused as to why Sam's long term girlfriend Zara McDermott wouldn't be the one to meet him in Australia.
However, while Pete was walking in the airport, he explained that when they decided who would go, Zara was still competing in Strictly Come Dancing meaning she maybe wouldn't have been able to go.
But, it would have been possible for Zara to go as she left the BBC show after landing herself in the bottom two during Halloween week.
When asked if it was possible that Zara could get on a "last minute flight", Pete said: "I don't know if there's going to be a last minute flight, I think she's quite happy, she's holding down the fort back home. Obviously, she was supposed to still be in Strictly so that's why I'm still here."
Sam has quickly become a fan favourite while on the ITV show, with many thinking he could be crowned King of the jungle. Many have commented on his excitable nature and how star struck he seems to be sharing a camp with so many big names.
Pete previously said that being in the jungle will be a dream come true for Sam. However, he also has fears that when Sam leaves the show, reality is going to be "a real shock for him".
Speaking to OK! magazine, the Staying Relevant podcast host said: "Every time I see clips of Sam it looks like he's won a competition to be there. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen in my life. It's almost like he doesn't understand what's happened. I think he's just living out his dream. When he comes back to reality, it's going to be a real shock for him."
He added: "He’s full on and annoys the s*** out of me, but that’s part and parcel of Sam. The most beautiful thing about Sam is that he’s unique . He’s a very special man and he’s got a genuine heart. He's one of the most genuine people and all he wants to do is entertain and make people smile.
"That's why I've missed him because I am much like a lot of people - quite miserable. And actually, you need some light to that shade and Sam is always the light. He is just a fabulous energetic, positive person and we all need that in our lives."
