It's almost Black Friday and that means a swathe of top tech offers are about to be unleashed onto the market. Although the main event doesn't get underway until later this week (November 24 to be precise), we've already seen big discounts applied to headphones, smart speakers, TVs and streaming devices such as the Fire TV Stick.
Smartphones are also big for Black Friday bargains but before you dash to pop a discounted Galaxy S23 or Galaxy S23 Ultra in your shopping basket, beware.
Reports are flooding in that Samsung will hold its next launch event much earlier than normal bringing the Galaxy S showcase forward to early January. This keynote doesn't usually get underway until February/March so it could be a dramatic change from the Korean technology giant.
It's thought that the next Galaxy Unpacked will be all about a rebooted S24 and S24 Ultra and it appears there won't be long to find out exactly what will feature on these devices.
Rumours from Korean site The Elec, which has a pretty good history of getting things correct, suggest that the shiny new Galaxy S24 series will be unveiled on 17 January 2024, with sales to begin shortly after.
There's even a launch city included in the speculation with it thought that Samsung will head back to the USA to reveal its next batch of devices. In fact, it could go right to Apple's front door with an event taking place in San Jose. That's just a few miles from the doughnut-shaped Apple Park HQ in Cupertino.
The report also says “a Samsung Electronics official” has fully confirmed the time and place although it's worth noting that no official invites have yet been sent out to media.
All of the Galaxy S24 range could be faster, more efficient and have much better cameras on the rear panel.
We can also expect brighter screens, quicker charging and an improved processor with some reprints suggesting that the S24 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip from Qualcomm.
