Anyone with a popular Sky Q box tucked under their TV might want to head to the settings menu and make a very simple change. With the clocks going back and the UK's weather turning colder, bills will begin to rocket especially as energy prices remain unusually high. Luckily there are things you can do to help shave some pennies off the monthly outgoings including switching on Sky's "Eco" mode.
This simple setting will put the Sky Q device into a deep slumber during the early hours of the morning so it's not using precious energy whilst you are fast asleep.
Once activated, this telly-watching gadget will become inactive between the hours of 2.30am and 5:45am every day of the week. That's the time most of us are happily tucked up in bed.
If that sounds useful you'll find the option to turn it on by heading to Settings > Setup and Preferences. Here you'll find three different standby modes including the option to switch on Eco.
And don't worry if you sometimes record things very late at night. Eco does not become active if Sky Q spots a programme is set to be recorded in the planner.
If you happen to wake up very early and fancy a quick boxset binge before breakfast, Sky Q can also be woken from its deep sleep so you won't miss that telly fix.
Eco is definitely worth considering if you want to save a bit of cash. It won't slash hundreds off your yearly bills but every little helps.
There is another way of reducing those outgoings with Sky also revealing its big Black Friday bargains. These early deals include low prices on both Sky Stream and Sky Glass which both ditch the dish and use the web instead to beam content to the big screen.
The diddy Sky Stream box now starts from just £19 per month and Sky's Glass TV is currently reduced to £34 per month.
