Tesco shoppers only have a few hours left to spend their Clubcard vouchers before they lose them for good.
The supermarket chain issued a warning earlier this month that £16million worth of Clubcard vouchers were set to expire on November 30. This means shoppers only have hours left to spend their vouchers before they expire at midnight tonight.
The vouchers set to expire today are originally from November 2021. The supermarket sends out vouchers every three months in February, May, August and November. Shoppers are given two years to spend their vouchers.
More than 20million people across the UK hold a Tesco Clubcard, which allows shoppers to receive discounts on selected items as well as rack up points they can redeem later as vouchers. Shoppers get one Clubcard point for every £1 spent in stores and online or for every two litres of fuel bought at a Tesco petrol station. Shoppers can also collect points for each £1 spent on Tesco Mobile, every £4 spent on a Tesco credit card, and for each £1 spent using a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card.
You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco. You can then use the vouchers to get a bit of money off your food shop or when filling up your car. You can also swap vouchers for money off your Tesco mobile bill.
You can also double the value of your Clubcard points if they are used with a “Rewards Partner” which includes Thorpe Park and Pizza Express. So 500 points would be worth £5 when spent in-store but £10 when spent with a Rewards Partner. Tesco currently has over 100 Rewards Partners Tesco shoppers can spend their vouchers with.
In a statement released earlier this month, Emma Botton, Tesco Group customer director, said: “We want to help customers’ household budgets stretch further right now and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco. With more than £16million worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of November, we’re reminding customers to spend them now – or even use them to get ahead with some early Christmas shopping.”
