Over £16million of Tesco Clubcard vouchers need to be spent before they expire - and time is running out for shoppers to use them.
Clubcard vouchers last for two years and are issued every three months in February, May, August and November each year. And for those who received Clubcard vouchers in November 2021, the expiry date of November 30 is fast approaching.
In one of the country’s most widely-used loyalty systems with around 20 million members, Tesco shoppers are given one Clubcard points for each £1 they spend on groceries in stores or online, or for every two litres of fuel bought at a Tesco petrol station. Each £1 spent on Tesco Mobile, every £4 spent on a Tesco credit card, and each £1 spent using a Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card all get you a Clubcard point.
In order to receive a Clubcard voucher Tesco, shoppers need at least 150 points - this equates to £1.50 to spend at Tesco. You can also double the value of your Clubcard points if they are used with a “rewards partner” which includes Thorpe Park and Pizza Express.
But it is possible to extend your vouchers if you aren’t yet ready to spend them, by going to the Tesco Clubcard Rewards website and making a small purchase worth 50p of Clubcard points. The rest of your Clubcard voucher balance will automatically be credited back to you as Clubcard points.
The points will be turned back into vouchers when Tesco provides you with a Clubcard statement. But doing this may not be worth it if you have smaller amounts of points - as it has to be done separately for each voucher.
Tesco Group Customer Director Emma Botton said: “We want to help customers’ household budgets stretch further right now and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco. With more than £16 million worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of November, we’re reminding customers to spend them now – or even use them to get ahead with some early Christmas shopping.”
To check your Clubcard balance, head to the Tesco Clubcard website and login with your account details. Go to “My Clubcard Account and then “vouchers” - and you will see a table which lists all of the vouchers you have to spend.
