A woman who adores Christmas has revealed she needs three months to put up her 26 Christmas trees - and she loves decorating her home for the festive period.

Christmas fanatic Mel doesn't hold back when it comes to Christmas decorations, and despite trolls telling her it's "too much," she goes all out every year. Mel makes sure each of her 26 trees all have different themes and she starts off the decorating on September 1 to give her enough time to get them ready in time for Christmas and she claimed she loves them all equally.

As many people debate when the right time is to put up their Christmas decorations, Mel makes sure she has plenty of time to transform her home into a Christmas grotto. Tradition dictates that decorations should go up on the first day of Advent, the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day. In 2023, that's Sunday, December 3, but for Mel, it begins on September 1.

Once fully decorated, Mel proudly shared some festive snaps of her trees on The Magical Holidays of Christmas & Winter Facebook group. "Finally got all my trees up. I have 26 fully decorated trees," she wrote. The festive fan also claimed she has a large storage room in her basement where she keeps the trees and all of the decorations for the rest of the year.

Some of the themes include a green and red tree, a hot cocoa themed tree, an all white tree, and a candy cane tree all dotted around her kitchen and living room. One Facebook user declared Mel deserved a "the tree decorating award of the year".

Many members of the group praised her for her decorating skills and were impressed by her designs as one wrote: "I've never seen more beautiful trees. Each and every one is stunning!!" And another added: "This certainly is a labour of love!! They all are so beautiful!! That has to take you some time to do." With a third who claimed: "Omg, you are insane! But the awesome kind of insane, everything is beautiful!"

However, others weren't as impressed and thought her decorations were "too much". One Facebook user chimed: "I really have to unjoin this group. Twenty six trees is so ridiculous," and a second penned: "I'm exhausted thinking about this."

When Axios did a poll of its readership, it found that 55 per cent put up their Christmas tree just days after Thanksgiving and in the UK, trees can be spotted just after Halloween.

According to Yahoo Life, Professor Suzanne Degges-White, PhD, who focuses on emotional transitions and women's relationships, told The Mirror: "Between the multi-sensorial elements and the powerful evocation of memories, holiday decorating is good for the soul. Twinkling lights, festive scents, familiar music and the warmth of a hot drink or crackling fire surround our senses to press 'pause' on our routines and worries. When we decorate earlier and at a more leisurely pace, we can fully immerse ourselves in a restorative experience which, after all, only comes once a year."
