While he has become a regular sight for locals, he continues to catch visitors off guard with his unusual antics. Golden retriever Huckleberry, who lives in Austin, Texas, enjoys spending his days chilling out on his owner's roof.
His obsession with spending time up there caused a stir in the community at first, with neighbours constantly knocking on the door to let the owner know what he was up to. But with every knock, she'd have to spend 10 minutes explaining how he chooses to go up there and isn't in danger from doing so.
It prompted her to install a sign outside her house explaining Huckleberry's behaviour, hoping this would put an end to the constant knocks on the door. The sign reads: "Huckleberry is living up to his name and learned how to jump onto our roof from the backyard. We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball!

"We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door - we know he's up there! But please feel free to take pictures of him and share with the world!" Before installing the sign, the woman would have four to five people knocking on her door per week, asking: "Do you realise there's a dog on your roof?".
She says this dropped to once or twice per week as some still "miss the sign when they're walking up" to the house. After the dog's picture was shared on Reddit, the woman started answering users' 'burning questions' about her adventurous golden retriever.
When asked whether she can hear him walking around the roof when indoors, the owner said: "Yes, it's annoying, especially with an infant who's trying to nap. The worst is when someone starts waving at him and he bolts to the front of the house - I'm surprised all my shingles are still intact."

And when asked whether he has ever "pooped on the roof", she joked: "Now that you've said that... I've been wondering why my gutters have been clogged and there aren't any trees around them..." While one user, who unexpectedly spotted Huckleberry on the roof, said "He barks at joggers to get more attention as if he needs it".
Another user said: "There's something with golden retrievers, I'm not sure, but there's something." One user said: "I love your dog! He seems like quite the neighbourhood attraction." Huckleberry has his very own Instagram page, called hucktheroofdog, and has racked in more than 44,0000 followers with his roof-climbing antics.
His owners adopted a second dog, named Bluebell, who has already started following in Huckleberry's footsteps. Sharing a picture of Bluebell on the roof, they wrote in Huckleberry's voice: "Introducing my new little sister… Bluebell. Named after my favourite Texas ice cream and from the same breeder I came from. I’m still not sure what to think of her but my family seems in love so I think I will be too."
