This is the joyous moment a couple scoop a lifechanging lottery win in a clip which was then used as a sassy resignation notice.

Graham and Caroline Parris landed £1,236,481 in the Lotto draw earlier this month, with their win captured on camera as they scream in shock and disbelief. The couple, from Reading, have already used a slice of the cash to revisit Weymouth, Dorset, where they had their first ever romantic weekend together in 1979.

In the clip, Graham sits with the phone on loudspeaker as he reads off the winning numbers from his ticket to the National Lottery hotline. The operator then says: "I can guarantee you based on the fact it was a xxx one draw that no one claimed that you have won £1,236,481 specifically."

Graham can be seen rubbing his neck in sheer shock as their winnings are confirmed, exclaiming, "wow". Fighting back tears, he adds: "I thought I had. Yeah, oh great. That's brilliant news. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant." Caroline laughs in the background as the couple try to process their news.

She then used the same video to hand in her resignation by sending it to her boss, who was luckily understanding and very pleased for the two. Speaking about their win, Graham said: "I looked in my drawer and checked the numbers on the app and was pleasantly surprised that I had five numbers. Until then I didn't realise I had five and the bonus (ball). And it was then that I got excited."

Caroline added: "I was laid on the settee with flu and he came running down the stairs and burst in the lounge in tears and fell to the floor crying. I was saying, 'oh my God Graham, what's happened? What's happened?'

"And he said, 'Caz, we're millionaires! And I didn't believe him." Explaining the ballsy resignation, Caroline added: "I was having my six monthly review with my manager. She said, 'are you okay at 10 o'clock, and I said, 'yes, but I want to send you a video first and then we can have our call'. So I sent her the video of Graham's conversation with (National Lottery operators) Camelot, and our good fortune.

"She basically just sent me a couple of emojis back, (saying) 'oh my God' and then called me. And I resigned." Graham and Caroline's win follows a year of some huge results for lottery players across the country, with Camelot confirming it had made its 7,000th millionaire since 1994.

Doris Stanbridge, 70, scooped the top prize on the Set For Life game in August after she was prompted to take a chance of the Lucky Dip Set For Life ticket after encountering two money spiders. Doris, from Dorking, Surrey, spotted the creepy crawlies on her arm and took it as an omen, later landing the £10,000 a month prize.

And one incredibly lucky ticket-holder scooped a £11.6million Lotto jackpot in July. While the winner understandably has not gone public with the news, it marked another millionaire made by the game.
