Telly addicts are in for a treat this month with some extra content arriving on TV screens for free. Sky has just revealed that it is launching a new channel later in October which will offer those with Freeview in their homes the chance to watch shows that have never been on free-to-view platforms before.
The service, which is being called Sky Mix, will include series such as Cobra, Rob & Romesh Vs, A Discovery of Witches and A League of Their Own: Road Trip along with original factual specials such as Liverpool Narcos and Shark with Steve Backshall.
It will launch on October 18 with users able to track it down via channel 11 on their planner.
“Sky Mix is the perfect free-to-air home for us to showcase some of our favourite Sky shows that have already been a hit with our customers on Sky and NOW platforms.” said, Zai Bennett, Managing Director of Content, Sky UK and Ireland.
"We’re proud to share earlier series of shows like Rob & Romesh Vs, True Detective and A Discovery of Witches as well as showcasing a selection of our Sky Original films from previous years on this brand-new free TV brand."
Sky Mix will now join a number of other free channels from the satellite telly brand including Sky Arts, Sky Kids and Sky News.
It's currently unclear if your television or Freeview set-top box will need a retune come October 18 but you head to Channel 11 and there's no sign of Sky Mix then a quick reset should fix it.
This isn't the only freebie announced by Sky this week. The company has also confirmed that it has struck a new partnership with cinema chain Vue, which will dish out two free cinema tickets every month to telly fans.
The first set of free tickets are available to claim today from the MySky app on iPhone or Android. You'll be able to redeem the free tickets at every Vue cinema nationwide for showings from Sunday through to Thursday.
