It seems like just last month that Apple launched iOS 17, largely because it was. But a Californian tech giant's work is never done. iOS 17.1 is all but set to launch this week and it should fix some major problems and bugbears experienced by iPhone users.
According to release notes obtained by developers, the latest version of iOS will fix a radiation issue which saw the iPhone 12 pulled from store shelves across France in September.

It's also meant to amend a screen 'burn-in' issue reported by many iPhone 15 Pro Max users, who have claimed that certain images and text leave a 'ghost' outline on the OLED screen.
On top of that, there's a number of new features coming to iPhones which Apple has been promising for some time. These include:
- Apple Music: Users will now be able to mark songs as 'favourites' and add cover art to their playlists
- AirDrop: One of the first big iOS 17 features Apple announced was an upgrade to AirDrop which lets people transfer files to each other even when they're no longer nearby to one another. Previously, iPhone users had to remain physically nearby to one another for the duration of a file transfer.
- Photo Shuffle: You'll now be able to specify a photo album to shuffle through for your Lock Screen
- StandBy mode: There are now more options to control how long StandBy mode is activated as well as how long the always-on display is turned on
There's a few other tweaks and fixes as well, including to the new Action button, a torch indicator in the 'Dynamic Island' at the top of the iPhone, and much more.
Apple hasn't officially announced the launch date of iOS 17.1 just yet, but a note by French regulators let slip that it won't be released any later than Tuesday, October 24.
If your iPhone is eligible for the iOS 17.1 update, you should get an automatic update notification asking you to install the new software. You can also check your Settings app for any new updates.
